The Movement for the Survival of the Izon Ethnic Nationality (MOSIEND) has in strong terms condemned threats on the family of the Edi-Abali of Kalabari Kingdom, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo Asari over his refusal to support the #EndBadGovernance protest.

You recall that the Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf has imposed a 24-hour curfew on the state after the hunger protest turned deadly on Thursday which was what Alhaji Asari had earlier predicted that some unscrupulous elements would take advantage of the protest to cause anarchy.

Reacting to the threat on Alhaji Asari’s family by suspected masterminds of the protest, MOSIEND said it would not take such a threat lightly and called on security agencies to bring those behind the threat to justice.

According to the National President of MOSIEND, Kennedy West: “This threat is unacceptable. As a Nigerian, Alhaji Asari has the right to express himself in any manner he wants to.

“And on a national issue as this, whatever Alhaji Asari says regarding how to advance unity and progress in the Niger Delta region and the country at large, are his views.

“So, if one man or group of persons, takes it personally to encroach on the fundamental right of Alhaji Asari who is our brother, leader, father, and champion in the struggle, then we, the Niger Deltans will not take it lightly.

“If anything happens to Alhaji Asari, or his children or his close relatives, such perpetrators will be held responsible.

“Alhaji Asari has contributed immensely towards the advancement of the country and the Niger Delta and we hold him in high esteem. He has sacrificed so much that anything that affects him will affect the entire Niger Delta region.”

MOSIEND further described those issuing the threat as idiots, assuring them of their doom if they did not leave Alhaji Asari and his family alone.

While making the threat public, Alhaji Asari was quoted as saying: “They distributed my phone number and my son’s phone number and they are calling my son.

“One of them in particular called my son and said since I have decided to prevent the protest in the Niger Delta region that they are going to kill my family member.

“But the fact is that I will not spare anybody who goes after my family and when I say something, I do it.”
