Be responsible and patriotic – NYSC DG To Rivers Corps Members

Batch ‘B’ Stream 1 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) deployed to Rivers State for the 2024 service year have been encouraged to be patriotic and responsible for the period of their service year.

Brigadier General Y.D. Ahmed, The Director General of the NYSC, gave this address while speaking to the Corps members at the NYSC permanent orientation camp in Tai Local Government Area of Rivers state.

The Director General enjoined the corps members to add value to their host communities by starting and seeing through viable projects as part of their Community Development Service that would benefit themselves and the people living nearby.

He would later encourage the latest members of the NYSC program to be disciplined in all their engagements and to respect the host communities including their values, customs, and traditions.

Brigadier General Ahmed also urged the Batch B stream 1 members to take their personal security seriously as well as capacity building and skill acquisition which were covered during a Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Department lectures.

It bears mentioning that Mr. Mfongang George, the National Youth Service Corps State Coordinator for Rivers State had earlier Informed the Director General that the permanent orientation camp currently held a total of 1,800 registered members.

He gave the present Corps members a pat on the back for their stand-out performance since arriving in Nonwa-Gbam, the host community of the orientation camp, especially their active participation in all camp programs.

Notably, Brigadier General Ahmed concluded by encouraging the corps members to avoid traveling without due process, to avoid traveling at night time if granted permission, and to maintain a clean environment at all times.

He was accompanied by Chief Eddy Megwa and Mr Nura Umar, the  Director of Information and Public Relations, and the Deputy Director of Special Duties, respectively.
