Former Konga CEO Nick Imudia Commits Suicide

Nick Imudia, former CEO of Nigerian e-commerce giant Konga, tragically took his own life at his Lekki, Lagos apartment on the night of June 25. Until his death, Nick was the CEO of D.light, a prominent innovator in the distribution and financing of residential solar energy solutions and transformational household products. He ended his life by jumping from his balcony.

Before jumping, Nick made a series of poignant phone calls. He contacted his brother in the United States, giving him detailed instructions on how to distribute his wealth if anything happened to him. He also reached out to his young daughter from a previous relationship, reassuring her that he would always be there for her and telling her to look up at the sky to see him.

Nick’s sudden and shocking death has left his friends, family, and colleagues in deep sorrow and confusion. Many are struggling to understand why he would take such a drastic step. From the Ika South local government area of Delta State, Nick had a complex personal life. He was previously married to the mother of his young daughter, who was also from the same local government. Their marriage ended due to irreconcilable differences.

Nick found love again and married a Caucasian woman, which many thought marked a new chapter of happiness in his life. Despite outward appearances of having reached a state of contentment, his untimely death has revealed the inner turmoil he may have been experiencing.

Nick Imudia’s professional career was marked by significant achievements. Before his tenure at Konga, he worked with TCL/Alcatel as a regional director and served as the GM/MD for West and Central Africa at Microsoft Device and Services. His leadership and vision left a lasting impact on the organizations he worked with and the people he led.

The news of Nick’s suicide has sent shockwaves through the community, with many remembering him as a driven and successful leader who had much more to offer. His death is a stark reminder of the unseen struggles individuals may face, regardless of their outward success and achievements. As those who knew him mourn his loss, they are left grappling with unanswered questions about what led to his tragic decision.
