Patrick met his Waterloo after he duped his recent victim Legbara Barikpega a twenty-two-year-old lady whom he accosted on the road at Elimgbu, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, on May 22, 2024, where he allegedly hypnotized and deceived her to have produced 2000 naira from 50 naira.
According to the report, the suspect further urged the victim to provide all the money in her own house in the village and that of her family members, promising to ‘double’ the money to fill one sack bag.
Our Correspondent gathered that the lady went to her family house in the village where she collected money totaling two hundred thousand (200,000) naira and gave it to the suspect.
The elder brother of the victim, Legbara Anthony, had reported the incident to the Eligbum Police Division, which led to the arrest of the suspect by. detectives from Elimgbu Police Division after weeks of trailing him at Elimgbu when he was about to defraud another victim.
In an interview with our Correspondent, Anthony Legbara, narrated that his sister Legbara Barikpega, came back home and collected all the money in the house.
“One fateful day I was in the house, and my sister came to collect all the money in the house. We were trying to know why she was collecting all that money because she is not always around with us in the village.
“She came home and took the money, we noticed when she left for Port Harcourt. We tried to investigate, she told us that it was a money doubler who gave her oath and made all the incantation on her to go to the village that when she got to the village she would see money and she should bring the money to him.
“We immediately reported the matter to the Elimgbu Police Division. We are happy that the ‘money doubler’ has been arrested.
“Even at the point Police caught him, he was with another victim, trying to dupe her. We are happy that the Police have arrested him, also we are praying that the law should take it course”.
