Fire engulfs Christ embassy headquarters at oregun

A  fire outbreak occurred at the Christ Embassy headquarters, a prominent church led by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome. The blaze reportedly started on the morning of June 23, 2024, due to an electrical spark in the generator house. The Lagos State Fire Service responded promptly with four water trucks, each containing 10,000 liters of water, from stations in Ikeja, Alausa, and Isolo.

Despite their efforts, the fire caused significant damage to the church’s infrastructure, particularly affecting 14 large power generators. However, no casualties were reported, and other properties within the church were salvaged. The fire was intense, producing thick black smoke visible from afar. Witnesses noted that the non-cooperative attitude of some church members hampered the firefighting efforts.

Reflecting on the incident, Pastor Chris conveyed a perspective rooted in faith, asserting that nothing happens in a believer’s life by chance. He drew parallels to a past event in 2001 when the church’s building endured the vibrations from the Ikeja cantonment bombings, which caused significant concern but did not result in structural failure. At that time, despite the intensity of the vibrations and the initial fear that the building might collapse, subsequent assessments by engineers confirmed that it remained structurally sound.

In the wake of the recent fire, Pastor Chris emphasized his belief that such events are part of a divine plan rather than mere accidents. He expressed his resolve to rebuild the church headquarters, not just to restore it, but to create a larger, more magnificent structure. He viewed the fire incident not as a setback but as an opportunity to manifest greater glory and resilience. Pastor Chris’s message underscored a spiritual interpretation of adversity, encouraging his followers to see beyond the immediate physical damage and recognize a higher purpose at play.
