Nollywood actress, Stella Ikwuegbu confirmed dead

Veteran Nollywood actress Stella Ikwuegbu has passed away. The news was shared by filmmaker Stanley Nwoko, also known as Stanley Ontop, on his Instagram page, revealing that she died on Sunday, June 16, after a battle with leg cancer.

Born in Enugu, she was also a businesswoman and a graduate of the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) in Enugu State. She launched her restaurant, ‘The Film Bar’, on August 1.

Stanley Ontop confirmed the sad news with a heartfelt message: “Veteran actress Mrs. Stella Ikwuegbu has passed away today after battling leg cancer. Rest in peace, Madam Stella. Another loss for Nollywood. It is well.”

Stella Ikwuegbu began her acting career in 1990 and appeared in numerous films such as ‘Spoiler’, ‘Ukwa’, ‘Sound of Love’, ‘Holy Man’, ‘Two Hearts’, ‘Heart of Stone’, and ‘Madam Koikoi’.

Broadcaster Ijele Ozioma also took to Facebook to announce the actress’s death. She expressed her sorrow, writing: “Why, Ukwu Gi Dia? You survived so much, only for this illness to take you in less than a week. This is a sad day. Stella Ikwuegbu, today is Father’s Day. Why did you leave us with this heartache on such a day? Farewell, extraordinary actress. You didn’t get to enjoy life.”

At the time of this report, her age was not disclosed. Stella Ikwuegbu is survived by her husband, children, and grandchildren.
