Court remands a male teacher for allegedly defiling a 3-year-old schoolgirl

A Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt court has remanded one 41 years old David Olufemi Alonge in prison custody for allegedly defiling a 3-year-old girl child.

The suspect David Alonge, a teacher at the Rarykene International School, Rumuodumaya in Obio Akpor Local Government Area, was said to have allegedly defiled 3 years old pupil of the school by Inserting his finger and manhood into her private part, thereby committing an offense punishable under section 33 sub-section one of the Rivers State Child’s Right Law No 6 of 2022.

The suspect did not take a plea on arraignment as the charge was not read following existing legal advice from the office of the Attorney General that such offense for which the accused person was being charged should be tried under section 32 sub 2 of the child rights law of Rivers State.

Chief Magistrate Ogeh thereby directed the accused person be remanded at the correctional center and adjourned the case to 6 September 2023 for the proper arraignment of the suspect at the State High Court.
