Real Madrid legend Marcelo was seen leaving the field in tears on Tuesday evening after an unfortunate incident in the Copa Libertadores where he accidentally broke an opponent’s leg.
Currently playing for Fluminense in his native Brazil, Marcelo unintentionally stamped on Argentinos Juniors defender Luciano Sanchez while contesting the ball, resulting in an instant and visible fracture. Distressed by the unfortunate outcome, Marcelo had to leave the game in tears.
Following the match, Marcelo took to social media to express his remorse, stating, “Today, I had to face a very difficult moment on the pitch. I inadvertently injured a fellow player. My heartfelt wishes for a swift recovery to Luciano Sanchez. I’m sending you all the strength in the world!”
