Cult leader escapes Police raid in Ahoada East LGA

A cultist den headed by one “General Worldwide” in the Udebu community, Ahoada East local government area of Rivers State, has been raided by the Ahoada Police Division on Saturday, 8 July 2023.

It was gathered that the Police Divisional Officer (DPO), acting on credible intelligence, stormed the camp alongside other personnel.

According to a source, the ‘General Worldwide’ belonging to the Greenland cult group and his lieutenants escaped on sighting the Police.

Our Correspondent reported that items such as a motorcycle, generator, guns, ammunition, one locally fabricated pistol, military uniforms, cult symbols, and assorted charms were recovered, and the Police destroyed the camp.

In a related development, a suspected armed robber was also arrested by the Police while robbing a POS operator at New Road, Ahoada East, on Saturday, 8 July 2023; a revolver pistol was said to have been recovered from the suspect.

In her response to the incidents, the Public Relations Officer Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe Koko, confirmed the raid of the ‘General’ Worldwide camp and recovery of some exhibits, adding that investigation is ongoing.

However, she said she has yet to be briefed on the arrest of the armed robber.
