NDLEA celebrates World Anti-Drug Day in UNIPORT

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Rivers State Command has celebrated this year’s world anti-drug day with the unveiling of an anti drug abuse billboard at the premises of the University of Port Harcourt.

Performing the billboard unveiling, on behalf of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, the state Head of Service, George Nweke urged the general public to embrace good health, safety and refrain from all manner of drug abuse.

On his part, the Zonal Commander, NDLEA Zone ‘N’ Port Harcourt, Anthonia Edeh who represented the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa, (Retd) told the stakeholders to stay committed to a future that is free from the scourge of drug abuse and stand in solidarity with those affected.

Other highlight of the event was the inauguration of WADA club (Drug free Club) for the University of Port Harcourt by the State Commander of NDLEA, Ahmed Mamuda, in company of the Asst. State Commander Drug Demand Reduction Unit (DDRU).

Those in attendance were the representative of the state governor, heads and representatives of various sister security agencies, royal fathers, members of the university community, members of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, students of secondary and primary schools, students from various faculties and departments of the University of Port Harcourt, civil society groups, members of the press, stakeholders, invited guests and NDLEA officers.

Our correspondent reports that NDLEA celebrated the event in partnership with the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria and the Management of UNIPORT.
