Burna Boy, Tems win big at 2023 BET Awards

Nigeria’s multiple award winning Afrobeats Dancehall star Damini Ogulu popularly known as Burnaboy has won the Best International Act award at the 2023 Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards.

The 23rd edition of the B.E.T Awards was held at the Microsoft Theatre Los Angeles California United States on Sunday June 25th 2023.

The B.E.T which is an annual American awards ceremony established in 2001 honours and celebrates black entertainers and other creatives in the areas of music, film, sports and philanthropy.

The Common Person, Anybody, Last Last singer BurnaBoy slugged it out in the same category with Nigeria’s Ayra Starr, French singers Aya Nakamura and Tiakola; British singers Central Cee, Ella Mai and Stormzy; Swaziland’s Uncle Waffles and South African singer K.O to emerge winner.

It is the third time BurnaBoy has won the Best International Act category of the B.E.T awards; he picked up the award in 2019 and 2021.

The Nigerian entertainer was also nominated in the Video Director of the Year category, Best Male R&B/Pop Artist of the Year category and the
Viewer’s Choice category for his hit song Last Last at the 2023 B.E.T Awards.
