By Tina Amanda

The Rivers State Police Command has arrested one Marvelous female lover of a male barber popularly known as Otubong, who died in an alleged sex romp last week, Friday 16 June 2023, at Osina Street, Mile 2 Diobu Port Harcourt.

Spokesperson of the command, SP Grace Iringe Koko, confirmed the arrest to our Correspondent that the lady who was said to have fled after the death of the Barber is now in Police custody.

A source who pleaded anonymity told our Correspondent that the female lover of the Barber turned herself into the Police two days after the incident.

It was reported that two empty black bullet energy drinks, substances suspected to be tramadol and Viagra, were recovered at the scene by the Police.

In the meantime, the State Vice Chairman of a Human Rights Group, Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign, Afudoza Jennifer Stephens, has urged the Police to investigate without stigmatising the lady.

“We demand that the Police thoroughly investigate the case of the Barber who died after an alleged sex romp with the lady as being speculated.

“We urged the Police to carry out their investigation without victimization of the lady who will understand is now in the custody of the Police.

“You know she is an adult, and there is no law in Rivers State that criminalizes an adult who engages in a relationship or love affair with another adult.

“The fact that the Barber, who was the male lover of the lady, died in an Alleged Sex romp as being insinuated does not mean the lady should be stigmatized.

“Only discrete investigation will prove if she is culpable in the death of the Barber. We equally demand that she should be released immediately if investigation shows she is not culpable”.
