On sighting the operatives, the hoodlums opened fire, and a gun battle ensued, which inflicted fatal injuries on three of the hoodlums. The suspects were confirmed dead after being rushed to the University Of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital.

According to Nwonyi, eight magazines, 70 rounds of live ammunition and ten cartridges were recovered.
