The Rivers State Command says its operatives have neutralized three (3) suspected kidnappers at Isiodu forest in the Emohua Local Government Area of the state.

Addressing the press on Friday, the state commissioner of Police, Nwonyi Emeka Polycarp, disclosed that at about 3:30 pm on 16 June 2023, operatives of the command stormed a kidnap hideout in Isiodu, Emohua LGA, based on credible intelligence.

On sighting the operatives, the hoodlums opened fire, and a gun battle ensued, which inflicted fatal injuries on three of the hoodlums. The suspects were confirmed dead after being rushed to the University Of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital.

According to Nwonyi, eight magazines, 70 rounds of live ammunition and ten cartridges were recovered.

CP Nwonyi further reiterated the command’s resolve to make Rivers State crime-free, adding that the police will leave no stone unturned in curbing crime and criminality in the state.
