The Rivers State council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) has mourned the death of Raymond Dokpesi who died on Monday as a result of illness.
NUJ described Dokpesi’s demise as great loss to the pen profession in the country and the world.
Reacting to his passing, the state NUJ chairman, Job Stanley told our correspondent that Dokpesi left an indelible foot print in the media industry.
“The news of his death came as great shock to us. He was an impactful media mogul.
“He was among the first to establish private broadcast media in the country which helped to champion objectivity in the broadcast industry.
“His media outfits have also employed a lot of Nigerians which is good for the country.
“We urge his family to sustain the media business by managing it well,” NUJ said.
Recall that the management of DAAR Communications Limited had on Monday cleared the air surrounding the death of its founder, Raymond Dokpesi.
