Emohua workers vs Chidi Lloyd: Case finally reassigned to new judge

Brave Dickson

One year after some aggrieved workers of Emohua Local Government Council dragged their boss, Chidi Lloyd to court, the pending matter has been reassigned to a new judge.

The aggrieved workers took their complaints to court over grade level demotion, salary cut and salary withheld which they accused LIoyd of acting unlawfully.

The matter was in progress until the first judge was transferred out of Port Harcourt, leading to the pending of the case.

Speaking with our correspondent shortly after the matter resumed on Wednesday, counsel to the workers, Barr Kingdom Chukwuezie explained that: “The matter was pending at the National Industrial Court, under the then lordship who was transferred out of Port Harcourt.

“All this while, we were waiting for the matter to be reassigned which has eventually been reassigned and the matter came up this Wednesday.

“We were in court this morning including all the parties and their lawyers. But the court did not sit due to obvious official engagement which we were communicated.

“We have been asked to come back on June 8, 2023. We are coming back for mention because the matter is coming up for the first time before this new judge.

“The truth is that all the parties have received processes and pleadings have been closed.

“So, upon the mentioning of the matter with lawyers confirming to the court that processes on the issue have been fully exchanged and filed, the court would naturally adjourn for hearing of those processes.”
