Respect APC, Tinubu’s choices – Wike tells NASS leadership aspirants

Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has advised the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, to carefully select capable and competent individuals for his cabinet, regardless of their political affiliations. Wike emphasized the need for the incoming administration to hit the ground running and fulfill its campaign promises to the people.

In light of this, Governor Wike called upon aspirants vying for various leadership positions in the National Assembly to work together and respect the decisions made by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President-elect Tinubu. He believes that such cooperation will enable the new administration to succeed in delivering on its commitments.

Speaking at a book presentation in Kaduna State titled “Putting People First: The El-Rufai Years,” Governor Wike praised Governor Nasir El-Rufai for advocating for the zoning of the presidency to the southern region of the country in the interest of equity and fairness.

The book, authored by Emmanuel Ado, examines El-Rufai’s tenure as governor of Kaduna State and showcases his core values, mission, and achievements.

Despite belonging to different political parties, Governor El-Rufai and Governor Wike share similar political ideologies. Governor El-Rufai expressed this sentiment during the event.

The book presentation was attended by notable figures including Senator Uba Sani, Prince Arthur Eze, traditional rulers, government officials, and business leaders.

The zoning arrangement for the National Assembly positions announced by the APC has sparked controversy.

According to the APC, the Senate President position is allocated to the South-South region, specifically Senator Godswill Akpabio from Akwa Ibom.

The Deputy Senate President position is designated for the North-West region, with Senator Barau Jibrin from Kano as the nominee.

Similarly, the Speaker of the House of Representatives is set to be from the North-West, represented by Abass Tajudeen from Kaduna, while the Deputy Speaker will be from the South East, represented by Ben Kalu from Abia.
