Over 8000 matriculants were on Wednesday, ushered into the academic programmes of the Rivers State University, Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt.

The candidates numbering 8,441 had satisfied the minimum requirements for admission into the various programmes offered by the institution.

Speaking during the 41st matriculation of the university in Port Harcourt, the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof Nlerum Okogbule, said that success can only be achieved through hard work and commitment to the academic journey ahead.

Okogbule, who encouraged the new students to take their studies seriously, warned them against indecent dressing and engaging in examination malpractices.

The VC further warned that the university has zero tolerance for all forms of anti-social activities such as membership in secret cult groups and examination malpractices.

“The penalty for involvement in any of these activities is rustication from the university, and I do not waste time in doing this once a student is found culpable.”
