Three police officers sustain injury as kidnappers kill aide of abductee

Three police officers sustained several injuries while chasing suspected kidnappers who abducted a yet-to-be-identified man.

The incident occurred on Monday afternoon within the Obiriikwere axis of the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State

Eyewitness accounts disclosed that the vehicle the Police had somersaulted when the Kidnappers they were chasing opened fire on them, which resulted in the loss of control by the driver of the Police van.

The eyewitness narrated that the Kidnappers fled the scene with their abductee. At the same time, another Police patrol van came to the scene and conveyed the Injured officers, and a man shot dead to an undisclosed hospital.

Reacting to the incident, SP Grace Iringe Koko told our Correspondent that the Kidnappers shot dead the Aide of the abducted man.

She confirmed that no Police officer died, but they all sustained injuries and were taken to an undisclosed hospital. At the same time, the Commissioner of Police, CP Effiong Okon, has, deployed tactical teams and ordered for the unconditional release of the abducted man.
