Butcher allegedly kills wife during scuffle in Delta

The Delta State Police Command has reportedly arrested a man for stabbing his wife to death in the Warri area of the state.

It was gathered that the incident occurred on Thursday evening.

It was learnt that the suspect, a butcher, had tried to scoop hot water from the fire to bathe after he returned from the market where he sells meat.

However, trouble broke out after his wife refused and asked him not to touch the gas claiming he does not give them money for upkeep or to fill the gas at home.

The suspect reportedly ignored his wife and went straight to the gas to scoop the hot water.

Following his action, his wife attacked him and a fight broke out between the couple.

In the process, the deceased wife had reportedly rushed for a knife with the intention to stab her husband who in turn overpowered her, collected the knife, and used it to stab her severally until she collapsed.

It was further learnt that the suspect rushed his wife to a private clinic, where he lied that she was involved in a ghastly accident.

The case took a different turn after his daughter reported the matter to the Police, and the suspect was immediately arrested.
