Ramadan: Don’t be part of inflation, Islamic leader tasks Muslim traders

Brave Dickson

As Muslims across the globe begin their Ramadan Fast, the leader of Islam in Rivers State, Alhaji Nasir Uhor has enjoined Muslim traders in the state not to increase the prices of their goods and services.

The Islamic leader noted that some traders would like to take advantage of the Ramadan month to increase the prices of goods and services.

Uhor urged Muslim traders to imbibe the righteous teaching of Ramadan and use it to add moral value to society by exhibiting righteous conducts in business.

He said, “while others are trying to make more profits by increasing the prices of their goods and services, I urge Muslim traders as well as commercial drivers not to increase theirs.

“The Muslim traders will have more patronage if they refuse to hike the price of their goods and services as customers and clients would prefer them to those who are hiking their prices.”

Uhor also urged all Muslims in the state to use their lifestyle to promote what is just and discourage what is unjust.

According to him, when all Muslims live righteously, the impact will be felt on others and the society will be better for everyone.

Ramadan is the Arabic name for the ninth month in the Islamic calendar. It is considered one of the holiest months for Muslims and is marked by a period of fasting.
