The Movement for the Survival of the Izon Ethnic Nationality (MOSIEND) has asked the winner of last Saturday’s governorship election in Rivers State, Siminialayi Fubara to focus development on the coastal hinterlands when sworn in as governor.
The National-President of MOSIEND, Kennedy West who made this known to our correspondent, said developing the hinterlands will create more wealth and employment to the state.
“Let me first congratulate Sim Fubara for his guber election victory which we viewed as the wish of Rivers people.
“We are aware that since the commencement of the nation’s fourth Republic in 1999, no Ijaw man or woman has been governor. But today, we are glad that an Ijaw man is going to govern the state after Governor Nyesom Wike finishes his tenure in May 29.
“We will like the governor-elect to try and unify the ijaw people and by extension unify all the people of the state.
“He should run a unity government that will carry all ethnicities along,” he said.
Fubara of the PDP was on Tuesday declared the winner of the just concluded governorship election in the state having scored 302,6i4 votes to defeat his closest rival, Tonye Cole of the APC who polled 95,274 votes.
