A pregnant woman, Ruth Osah and a member of Emohua Local Vigilante Service (EMOLVIS), Mark Orduize, have been killed in Ubimini community ward 12 in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, while one other EMOLVIS member was injured, and two houses of EMOLVIS member burnt thereby halting the conduct of Presidential and National Assembly Elections in the area.

In an interview with our correspondent, Comrade Ikechukwu Wordu, President of Ubimini Youth Council, disclosed that the problem resulted from one repentant cultist who later returned to perpetrate crime.

“Ubimini is a law-abiding community in Emohua LGA, the cause of the problem during today’s presidential election was a result of a young boy that was granted amnesty, and he became a Pastor, but quite unfortunate that before the election, he turned back and went back to his bad ways, he was with some guys trying to recruit bad boys, and in the process, he brought out pump action gun.

“unfortunately, out of accidental discharge by the repentant cultist, one Pregnant Woman Ruth Osah was killed, and some youth angrily chased the local vigilante members and killed one of them. I had to call on security agencies in the area and the Youths to stop any illegal reinforcement by moving around to burn people’s houses.

“For now, the DPO of Egbeda Police Division has arrived in Ubimini. One of the local vigilante member, identified as John, was injured. Two other members’ houses were burnt. I have called the Youths to order”.

The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe Koko, was yet to respond to text messages by our correspondent.

As of 1:30pm our correspondent reports that many natives have deserted the community as the election is not also taking place community.
