Following the conclusion of the BIVAS Mock Accreditation Exercise, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Rivers State has assured that the BIVAS machines are programmed to check irregularities during elections.

The Public Relations Officer, INEC in Rivers State Geraldine Ekilemu said this while speaking to a radio programme in Port Harcourt.

She said the successful conduct of the BIVAS mock accreditation exercise shows that INEC is ready to conduct free, fair, and credible elections during the 2023 general elections.

The Public Relations Officer of INEC in Rivers State Geraldine Ekilemu also explained the BVAS machines are programmed to carry out the accreditation of voters offline.

Geraldine Ekilemu also said that INEC can function in remote areas without a network.

She expressed confidence that the machines will function effectively during the 2023 general elections.

“The system is strongly fortified, there is no need for panic as INEC has provided the best security features to protect the BIVAS from hacking or manipulations.”

“I want to assure Nigerians that INEC is fully prepared to conduct free, fair, and credible elections,” she said.

Geraldine Ekilemu further said that every piece of information inputted in the BVAS machines during the mock election last weekend has been cleared from the system.

She advised electorates to demand to see the BIVAS record from the Polling officers on election day.

The INEC PRO in Rivers State further appealed to electorates in the state to conduct themselves in a civil manner while exercising their franchise
