Tonye Cole, the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in Rivers State, has accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) House of Representatives Candidate for Omuma/Etche constituency, Kelechi Wogu, of invading the party’s gubernatorial campaign rally in Omuma Local Government Area with thugs.
The thugs had in the early hours of Monday invaded the campaign venue of the APC, destroying vehicles, and canopies and carting away public address systems.
This follows similar attacks on the APC rallies in Oyigbo, Opobo and Port Harcourt Local Government Areas.
Cole in a video posted online blamed Wogu who is currently the House of Assembly member representing the Omuma constituency.
He, however, said the rally would go on despite the attack.
He said: “Thugs under the cover of Kelechi Wogu went and destroyed the venue of our rally. They carted away our equipment, destroyed vehicles, and shot at our people.
“They have been going all over Omuma, wherever they see APC gathering, they shoot, they scatter and destroy.
“We’re coming. Regardless of what you do there, we will hold and we will not let you get away with this. Anyone who thinks he will stop us is dreaming. Not only will we make it to the government house, but we will also come after each and every one of you. We will use the long arm of the law to bring you down”
