Tonye Cole is not a Christian, he brought soldiers to kill Rivers people – Fubara

Sir Siminalayi Fubara, the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State for the 2023 general elections, has urged the people of Oyigbo Local GovernmentArea to support his aspiration, promising to consolidate on the Infrastructural and security gains of Governor Nyesom Wike in the LGA, and transform it to the commercial hub of the state.

He promised to carry out programmes that will encourage and grow small and medium-sized enterprises in Oyigbo. Still, they have to ensure that PDP wins the governorship, national assembly, and state assembly elections to fulfil such promises.

“We are campaigning because Governor Nyesom Wike’s administration has given you a road that the previous administration refused to construct for you. We have built good schools for you and provided security and other basic amenities.

“Our task is to consolidate and continue with the good things already established by Governor Wike. Since you have a stable power and you are close to the seaport, we will create an enabling environment for business to thrive.

“Investors will come in from Aba and other places to establish small-scale and medium-sized businesses here. The basis of development is infrastructure, and that is what this administration has provided. When we say consolidation and continuity, this is what we are talking about.

“The man who just joined us from APC said he jumped ship because Governor Wike constructed the bad road leading to his community after Amaechi refused to do it. Our government carry out only meaningful projects; we don’t abandon projects everywhere as they do.

“Support us the way you supported Sir Dr Peter Odili from 1999 to 2007; support us the same way you have been supporting our Principal, His Excellency Nyesom Wike, from 2015 to date. Forget that I am your brother; support me based on my competence and commitment to the overall development of Rivers State,” he said.

Sir Siminalayi Fubara took a swipe at the embattled and litigation-stricken governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, Tonye Cole, for embarking on a continuous campaign of calumny and lies instead of an issue-based campaign.

“He claims that he is a pastor, but nothing in his character and deeds shows that he is a Christian; Christianity is living like Christ, not title. A real pastor will not bring soldiers to kill his people in the name of election, a real pastor will not be used to steal state assets,” the guber candidate added.

In his remarks, Rivers State Governor, His Excellency Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, said he tackled the insecurity Oyigbo was having to a standstill.

“Before now, some people were burning down police stations and killing policemen in Oyigbo and some parts of the state; we addressed the ugly situation as any responsible and responsive government would do; today, all of us can sleep with our two eyes closed,” he said.

Governor Nyesom Wike berated former senator Andrew Igbonule Uchendu over what he described as shameful politics.

“Today, Chief Andrew Uchendu presented a stranger to the council of chiefs in Mgbutanwo. This man has been in government for so many years that he could not make Rotimi Amaechi do their road. I brought Julius Berger to construct the road with street lights; today, he can now use that road to bring a stranger to Mgbutanwo for introduction to the chiefs; it is very shameful,” the Governor added.

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Rivers State Chapter, Amb. Desmond Akawor presented the flag to the state house of assembly candidate for Oyigbo Constituency; he urged the people to support all the party’s candidates except for the presidential election, which would be subject to a directive from the leader of the party in the state.

The Director-General of the New Rivers Vision Consolidation Campaign Council, Bro Felix Obuah, who addressed the crowd earlier, said Oyigbo would give Sir Sim Fubara 90 per cent of their total votes in the governorship election.
