Rivers Police arraign 6 over alleged economic sabotage, forgery

The Rivers State Police Command have arraigned six suspects before a Magistrate Court in Port Harcourt on two counts of charge bothering on alleged economic sabotage, forgery, and printing of Affidavit/Public Document Racketeering.

The suspects identified as Gift Godwin, Esther Monica-Sylvester, Virasi Gbarabe, Irene Anthony, Comfort Jude, and Mary Effiong were alleged to have carried out the activities within the State High Court premises along Station Road, Port Harcourt.

According to the charges, the activities of the suspects are causing a loss of revenue to the High Court and is an offense punishable under the section of Criminal law of Rivers State.

The suspects, who were arrested through the efforts of administrative officers of Rivers State High Court, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Presiding Chief Magistrate, Omonigho Nwibani after listening to Counsels representing parties on the bail application, adjourned the case to 14 February 2023 for bail consideration.

Chief Magistrate Nwibani thereafter directed the suspects be remanded in Port Harcourt Correctional Center till the next adjourned date.

Recall that since the inception of the administration of Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Simeon Chibuzor-Amadi several persons have been arrested and charged for the same offense.
