The Director, Media and Communication of the Dumo Lulu-Briggs Governorship Campaign Council, Sotonye Ijuye-Dagogo has asked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Rivers State, Siminialaye Fubara to tell Rivers people why he is in the governorship race.
This follows Fubara’s comments of his plan to consolidate on the achievements of Governor Nyesom Wike.
Fubara had made the declaration at the flagging off of the party’s governorship campaign in Omoku on Tuesday.
However, reacting to the PDP governorship falg bearer’s speech, Ijuye-Dagogo urged Fubara to highlight the achievements he wants to consolidate.
In a statement signed by Kalada Wilson, the Deputy Director for Media and Communication, Dumo Lulu-Briggs Governorship Campaign Council, Ijuye-Dagogo said: “When I hear, SIM Fubara say that the main reason he is contesting the governorship is to consolidate on the achievements of his principal, Gov. Nyesom Wike, I wonder what exactly the Rivers State PDP governorship candidate is talking about.
“What does he want to consolidate? Is it the brick-and-mortar development, where our monthly revenues are given out continously to foreign contractors in exchange of cement, sand, rods and asphalt, while majority of Rivers people wallow in abject poverty?
“Is it to consolidate, the weaponization of poverty that makes Rivers people to clap for the same leaders that keep them poor?
“Is it to consolidate, the disrespect for our traditional rulers, the dilapidation of the state secretariat complex, the non promotion of civil servants, the culture of secret budgets and the non-payment of pension and gratuities?
“Does SIM Fubara want to consolidate the undermining of the independence of the Judiciary, the Legislature and the loca governments? What exactly does he want to consolidate.”
He challenged Sim Fubara to tell Rivers people why he is running for Governor and should stop hiding behind Gov Wike who will not be on the ballot.
“It is a good thing that SIM Fubara is beginning to talk because we have been worried about his silence. But he should please tell Rivers people why he is running for Governor as a person and stop using governor Wike to cover up.”
