End attacks on Atiku’s allies in Rivers group charge police

Brave Dickson

A southern political group has called on the police to put an end to the incessant attacks on the allies of Atiku Abubakar in Rivers State.

The group under the aegis of the South-South PDP Support Group for Atiku/Okowa Presidential Ticket said this while reacting to recent attacks on the Port Harcourt residence of Senator Lee Maeba.

Maeba, who is the Chairman of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council in the state on Thursday experienced a vicious attack on his residence by suspected political thugs.

The attackers who could not gain entry into his building went ahead to damage some vehicles in the premises before leaving the compound.

As you may know, the senator and some prominent members of the PDP in the state became the political enemies of Governor Nyesom Wike after they declared their support for the 2023 presidential race of Atiku.

The South-South Coordinator of the group, Sam Ateke told our correspondent that the attack on Atiku’s allies in the state is the handiwork of the state PDP.

The group coordinator said ever since Wike had a sharp political disagreement with the central PDP, the attacks on Atiku’s allies in the state has been one too many which had put all supporters of Atiku in Rivers in grave danger.

“We that are supporting Atiku are no longer safe in this state and we are all calling on the police and other security agencies to immediately put an end to these attacks on Atiku’s allies.

“We are afraid that if the security agents do not act fast to end these attacks on us, there will be more casualties in the forthcoming elections than past elections and that is what we don’t want to happen in this state again,” he said.
