A Port Harcourt based lawyer in Rivers State, Barr Kingdom Chukwuezie has faulted the location of the newly built and commissioned law school campus in the state.
The N17billion law school campus was built by Governor Nyesom Wike and commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari who was represented by the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, SAN on Friday.
Chukwuezie said the Nabo Graham Douglas law school campus ought not to have be sited at the Mile 4 Rumueme axis of Obio/Akpor LGA because the area is too noisy.
He said, “the law school campuses I know in other states were never sited in busy and noisy areas like the newly commissioned one in Port Harcourt.
“Bringing law school campus to Rivers State is a welcome development that will help expand legal education in the country but the environment in which the school is located is not suitable for it.
“Students of law school are usually engaged in legal academic activities from morning till night and do not need law school campus to be sited in a busy and noisy environment because it would affect their concentration.
“Until the state government finds a way to regulate the noise within the area where the law school campus is sited, it will end up being a good project in a wrong location.”
Outside the location which Chukwuezie saw as not suitable for such purpose, he however praised the state government for ensuring that the state becomes one of the states that has law school campus.
He said the school will increase commerce for the state and bring more young and vibrant legal minds from all walks of life.
