Rivers 2023: We’re ready to fight the good fight – Obuah

Kelechi Esogwa-Amadi

As the 2023 general elections inch closer, with the various political parties in Rivers State fine-tuning their strategies for the exercise, the Director-General of the Consolidation of the New Rivers Vision Campaign Council, Bro. Felix Obuah has declared that his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is ready for the electoral battle ahead.

He stated during a press briefing held at the campaign office of the PDP in GRA, Phase II, Port Harcourt, on Thursday.

Obuah also disclosed that the PDP was ready to win next year’s governorship election in the state, noting, “We are ready to fight the good fight; our sleeves rolled up, and our hands on the plough.

“We are ready, as a political party, to win the 2023 gubernatorial elections. We are also ready to sweep the National Assembly and the State House of Assembly elections.

“We are prepared, through the special grace of God, to build astutely on a legacy of hard work, strong leadership, and rapid transformation established by the Wike administration.”

The former Rivers PDP chairman appealed for the continued support of the people of Rivers State in the party’s quest for another four-year term, thanking them for their continued support of the party and its leader, Governor Nyesom Wike.

“We are prepared, with the support of the good people of Rivers State who continue to back the PDP and our dynamic leader, Governor Nyesom Wike, to ask for a fresh mandate of four years.

“We believe that the fresh mandate shall strengthen a shared vision of great prosperity and progress. And ensure the consolidation of the new Rivers vision which has given birth to an evolving era of great enduring works, great transformation, and resounding achievements.

“We do have a resilient political party that is focused and determined. We have an exceptional Government that has raised the bar of performance. Our government ably led by Governor Wike has delivered, and continues to deliver, on its promises to the people,” Obuah said.

According to him, the well-being of a people and the transformation of their environment matter to them, hence Governor Wike and the PDP, through good performance hinged on developmental projects, have met the aspirations of Rivers people.

“As we prepare to step into the ring, we urge the people to rally support for their own party. The Rivers people are major stakeholders in the Peoples Democratic Party.

“Wisely, they have freely and caringly given us the mandate to form government in this State. Today, as we go forward, we ask them for a renewal of the mandate.

“Right from 1999, we have had our eyes intensely on the ball. Looking back, we are proud to say that our resolve to fulfill our part of the social contract has remained unshaken.

“Rivers people can attest to the fact that we are vigorously delivering dividends of democracy at an astounding pace,” he added.

He also used the opportunity to inform the public about the official kick-off of PDP’s campaign and unveiling of the party’s governorship candidate, Sim Fubara, at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Omagwa, on Saturday.
