The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has called on the federal and state governments to ensure the provision of palliatives and medical support to victims of flooding in Rivers State.
Chairman of the Union Portharcourt zone, Comrade Peter Chukwudi Onita, made the call after a recent visit and assessment of some affected areas, including companies and Oil flow stations in the affected areas under the zone.
Onita appealed for urgent intervention to help cushion the effect of the flooding that has ravaged the communities, especially as a huge number of people have been displaced and their homes, business places, and thousands of acres of farmlands submerged underwater for weeks.
He commended all members for their zeal, determination, and resilience to work under such flooding conditions.
The chairman, however, called for the assistance of persons working at the various facilities in the affected areas, noting that they are provided with the necessary Health and Safety Equipment (HSE) standards to enable them to go about their activities without any hitch.
