The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State, Ambassador Desmond Akawor, has hinted that the party’s governorship candidate, Siminalayi Fubara, will emerge victorious in next year’s gubernatorial election.
Speaking during the inauguration of the PDP campaign council in Port Harcourt on Monday, Amb. Akawor, in metaphoric reference to the inevitability of the PDP’s governorship candidate, said: “No sim card, no network.”
He said members of the party who participated in the inauguration of the process that would lead to the emergence of Sim Fubara, his deputy, Ngozi Odu and other candidates of the party were part of history in the making.
He commended the Rivers State government under Governor Nyesom for its achievements and expressed confidence in the ability of members of the campaign council to deliver on their assignment.
He said although members of the campaign council may be many, they would work in unity to deliver in their mandate. Meanwhile, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has charged members of the PDP Campaign Council to take the message of the party and its candidates to the grassroot.
He gave the charge while inaugurating the council at the party’s campaign office in Woji Road, GRA, Port Harcourt, on Monday.
The governor, who doubles as the chairman of the campaign council, boasted that his government has successfully spread dividends of democracy to all the local governments of the state.
He said the people of Rivers State will naturally queue behind those who mean well for them and shun those who don’t care about their interests.
“We will campaign for those who want us to campaign for them,” he said.
