DPO arrested over attempted assassination of Apostle Suleman

Apostle Johnson Suleman, the general overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International, has alleged cover-up by the police after one of the gunmen who opened fire on his motorcade was shot dead.

The assassins opened fire on his motorcade in Auchi, Edo State, killing five police escorts and two relatives.

Mr Suleman in a tweet accused Nigeria police of killing one of his assailants caught to “cover up.”

“Lies. They weren’t kidnappers. He was caught and handed over and the police killed him immediately,” Mr Suleman said. “Why? Why killing him on the spot?. Who is trying to cover up traces?” The cleric asked. The Divisional Police Officer identified as Ayodele Sulaiman reportedly shot the suspect. immediately.

Mr Suleman also claimed that he knows those behind the attack but will not mention their names.

He explained that the gunmen fired shots directly at the bullet-proof vehicle conveying him and his family, but he survived with his wife and children.

Tweeting further on the development, Mr Abdul Mahmud, Apostle Suleman’s lawyer said the Divisional Police Officer of Ivbiaro has been arrested on the orders of the state government.

According to him, “But for the locals who recorded what happened yesterday in Ivbiaro, Edo State, the police would’ve ran with its usual lies that the kidnapper/assassin was cut down in a gun duel.

“That isn’t the case now. Videos bear evidence of a deliberate cover up.

“I’ve now been reliably informed that the DPO has been arrested on the orders of the Governor of Edo State”
