2023: Atiku tells Northerners not to vote for Southern candidates

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has urged northerners not to vote for presidential candidates from the southern part of the country.

Atiku urged northerners to always vote for candidates from the north whom they would understand.

Speaking in Kaduna on Saturday, at an interactive session organised by Arewa joint committee, he said that he has built bridges across the country and, since he is from the north, is the most qualified.

According to him, “I have traversed the entire country. I know the whole of this country. I have built bridges across this country. I think what the average northerner needs are someone who is from the north, who also understands the other parts of Nigeria and who has been able to build bridges across the rest of the country.

“This is exactly what the northerner requires.” He does not need a Yoruba candidate or an Igbo candidate. This is what a northerner needs, so I believe I stand before you as a pan-Nigerian of northern origin
