The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Iyorchia Ayu has denied allegations linking him to have collected a N1 billion without remitting to the party as proposed.
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, had in a statement said that Ayu had collected a billion naira from some persons in Lagos and never remitted the money to the party’s account.
Ayu, while responding to the allegation debunked the claims, promising that the statement of the party’s account will be made available to party members soon.
He appealed to aggrieved members to leave his family out of the crisis rocking the party while noting that as the father of the party, he decided to be quiet to encourage peace.
The PDP national chairman said: “I felt I should encourage reconciliation. But where it touches on my integrity, which even my own family members are brought into play.
“I appeal to aggrieved people to desist from trying to malign my character or bringing my family into party affairs.
“I never collected 1 billion from anybody. And the 100 million that was donated by one of the governors was judiciously used for the purpose that it was given.”
