Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike on Tuesday, appointed 14,000 advisers for various political units in the state.
In a statement signed by Wike’s Special Assistant on Media, Kelvin Ebiri, the governor said the advisers will play a major role in the administration.
Although the identities of the appointees are yet to be revealed, they are to resume duties immediately.
“In addition to the 14,000 advisers, Governor Wike has also appointed 319 Ward Liaison Officers and 40 Local Government Area Liaison Officers. The appointments are with immediate effect,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, the governor has tasked political parties in the state to avoid actions that could instigate political tensions ahead of the 2023 elections.
He said that as the campaign for the 2023 general elections begins, political parties and their candidates should be reminded of their legal responsibility to foster an enabling civic environment for peaceful campaigns and elections.
Wike reiterated his committement to ensure that the atmosphere of peace and security in the State is not be compromised, urging political candidates to hold campaigns within legal limits.
