No less than five passengers have been allegedly kidnapped while travelling in a commercial bus along the Emuoha/Kalabari Road in Rivers State.
The incident is reported to have taken place on Saturday night after the hoodlums intercepted the vehicle which picked up passengers at the Choba junction.
However, there are reports that the driver of the vehicle was released while the other passengers were yet to regain their freedom.
Meanwhile, the state Police Command, says tactical teams have been deployed to the area to conduct a thorough search.
The civil society organization in the state has also condemned the continued attacks on road users in the state.
Recall that gunmen had allegedly killed a bus driver and abducted eight of his passengers along the same road a few days ago.
In a statement, the chairman of the Rivers state civil society organization, Eneefa Georgewill, threatened to “mobilize” an action to occupy the road if the chairmen of the local government councils in the affected area fail to act fast.
He further called on the government to provide adequate security for commuters on the road.
