The National Executive Committee NEC of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria IPMAN has disassociated itself from a proposed protest against the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State, and the Petroleum Tanker Drivers PTD of NUPENG.

IPMAN in a statement signed by its National President Debo Ahmed said the promoters of this protest are not real marketers of petroleum products across the state and its environs.

The National President of IPMAN Debo Ahmed asks security agencies to arrest and profile the promoters of the protest to avoid unnecessary breakdown of law and order in the state.

He said the Supreme Court judgment affirmed the 1997 Constitution of IPMAN as the operative instrument of the Association.

The statement also passed a vote of confidence on the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State CP Friday Eboka, and the PTD – NUPENG of Port Harcourt Zonal Council.

The National President of IPMAN also thanked the Governor of Rivers State Nyesom Wike for restoring petroleum distribution to the state through the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources Dr. James Enebeli.

You could recall that the Petroleum Tanker Drivers had embarked on strike over incessant harassment by security agencies in Rivers State.

The strike was suspended after a meeting brokered by the Rivers State Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources.

The two-day meeting was held at the Headquarters of the Rivers State Police Command at Moscow Road, Port Harcourt.
