Gas Leak: NPDC shuts down facility in Bonny

The Nigeria Petroleum Development Company Limited NPDC, the oil multinational operating the plant where the gas leakage occurred in Bonny has shut down the facility.

An official of the company said this when the Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area Anengi Barasua Dagogo-Wilcox visited the facility.

Anengi Barasua Dagogo-Wilcox during the visit to the facility advised the Nigeria Petroleum Development Company Limited NPDC, to ensure there is no repeat of gas leakage around its facilities in Bonny.

The Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area in a statement signed by the Deputy Press Secretary of the council Boma Waribor insisted that safety and quality control should not be compromised at the facility.

The Bonny Council Boss further said that the consequence of the gas leakage was too expensive to tolerate.

Meanwhile, an official of the Nigeria Petroleum Development Company Limited, NPDC who received the Bonny council chairman at the facility assured that the oil multinational is committed to remedying the situation.
