2023: Tonye Cole woos young people with futuristic ideas

Tonye Cole, the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers state says there is a need to maximise talents in the state.

Cole cited Burna Boy, Tacha, Hilda Dokubo, Duncan Mighty, Monalisa Chinda, Mercy Chinwo, as a few names of people that hail from Rivers State that are making waves in the entertainment sector.

He said that judging from the array of entertainment talent from Rivers State with national and global recognition, it is obvious that Riverines have the potential to excel in the entertainment industry.

“We can harness this potential with initiatives and structures that ensure talent is discovered early and maximized”, he said.

Cole explained that technology has become a powerful tool and force for development and innovation in all the top economies worldwide.

According to him, “in Rivers State, we have several youths with fantastic tech ideas that have the potential to become world-renowned businesses providing solutions that will move not just Rivers State forward, but Nigeria.

“We must create an ecosystem that supports MSMEs, SMEs and Tech Startups in our state.

“There are various forecasts from world-renowned economic experts that suggest that the world could suffer famine in the coming years. Farming is an occupation that has been frowned on because of its less glamorous appeal, but it is an essential part of our culture in Rivers State and has the potential to be a vital pillar in our economy.

“I have met quite a number of young people trying to make a difference in the agricultural sector, but they need the resources and platform to scale. I believe we can feed a significant percentage of the population in Nigeria if we focus our resources and efforts on giving farmers the necessary support, tools, safety and network to scale”.
