The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has launched a Niger Delta Talent Hunt (NIDETH) to harness creativity among youths in the entertainment industry and address unemployment in the region.
The talent hunt was launced at the NDDC headquarters in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital.
Speaking during launch, Interim Administrator of the NDDC, Dr. Efiong Akwa, said the NIDETH was designed to tackle the challenges and lack of opportunities facing youths in the region.
According to him, the entertainment industry is a fast paced industry which would help many Niger Delta youths attain greatness.
On his part, the Interim Administrator’s Special Adviser on Youths, Udengs Eradiri, said Niger Delta youths are enterprising, noting the readiness of the commission to help push the youths to the international community.
He said, “We must keep the creative sector alive in the Niger Delta to develop young talents and to showcase them to the world.”
Present at the unvieilng were Nigerian Singers, Harrysong and Mr 2 Kay who described the new youth programme as a dream come true for those in the creative sector.
