Mass defection will disturb our chances in 2023 – Rivers APC leader

Brave Dickson

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has expressed worry following the wave of defection rocking the party.

In less than a month, some vibrant chieftains have left the party, including, former state Commissioner for Information, Ibim Semenitari; two former federal lawmakers, Dawari George and Chidi Wihioka and former state lawmaker, Golden Chioma among others.

In an interview with our correspondent, a leader of the party in Ahoada West, Ajasin Vincent said this is not the right time for members to dump the party.

“We need more people to join our party because politics is a game of number.

“If such defection continues, it will disturb our chances in 2023, however, we are glad that few of those who left belong to Magnus Abe’s camp.

“We are happy that some of those loyal to Abe left on time so we can fill in their space with faithful party members.

“These were the spy in our party who were leaking our strategies and election secrets to other political parties which made us to be disqualified from the ballot in 2019,” he said.
