Former information commissioner, Ibim Semenitari dumps APC

Former Commissioner for Information under the Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi’s administration, Ibim Semenitari has resigned from the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Semenitari, a former interim managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC announced her resignation in a letter to ward chairman in Okrika.

Her resignation follows the resignation of two other high-ranking chieftains of the party, Dawari George and Golden Chioma.

It was not immediately clear the reasons for the gale of resignation from the party but sources said it is not unconnected to the emergence of Tonye Cole as the gubernatorial candidate of the party for the 2023 general election.

Cole emerged ahead of 11 other aspirants from the Amaechi’s faction of the party.

His emergence is currently being challenged in court by Bernard Mikko, a loyalist of the Senator Magnus Abe’s faction.
