The newly-appointed Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Umana Umana has said that his focus would be directed toward result-oriented and impactful activities within his short period in the ministry.

Umana was sworn in alongside other appointees by President Muhammadu Buhari after their confirmation by the National Assembly.

A statement in Abuja by the Director, Press and Public Relations of the ministry, Deworitshe Patricia, said Umana, who spoke during a reception in his honour assured that his tenure will leave indelible footprints that will make President Muhammadu Buhari and Nigerians proud.

“Though the time is short, we can hit the ground running by making the necessary impact. We’ll be driven by results.”

He also called on the staff of the ministry to be at their best to ensure a remarkable difference is made in the lives of Nigerians, especially the people in the Niger Delta region.

Meanwhile, the former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio has congratulated the newly-appointed Minister.

In a congratulatory message to Umana on Wednesday, the former senator said he believes the new minister’s “track record of performance in his previous offices will come in handy in the discharge of the new responsibility bestowed on him”.
