Whether Wike defects or not, Atiku will win in 2023 – Group

Brave Dickson

The South-South wing of the Atiku Abubakar’s Support Group has maintained that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar will still win the 2023 election if Governor Nyesom Wike leaves the party.

The group said this amid speculation of defection moves by Wike who is said not to be happy with the way he lost the presidential and vice-presidential ticket of the party to Atiku and Governor Okowa.

Report also has it that some political leaders loyal to Wike had warned the PDP that they were ready to mobilise other supporters of the governor to dump the nation’s main opposition party.

The South-South leader of the group, Sam Ateke told our correspondent that, “it will be a big mistake on the part of Wike to dump PDP at this time.

“Atiku will still win if Wike defects from the PDP. My advice to Wike is for him to jettison his grievances and work with Atiku to win the 2023 presidential election.”

In preventing any defection move, the PDP’s standard-bearer, Atiku Abubakar had said he would ensure reconciliation.

Atiku said this barely after Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom accused him of failing to honour the democratic choice in the selection of his running mate.
