Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom has called on the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to pacify its former presidential aspirant, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, for treating him badly.
Ortom, who featured as a guest on Arise Television on Wednesday, also claimed that it was Wike who brought him back to the PDP in 2015 when he was treated unjustly.
According to him, “When people left the party, Wike was on ground. It was Wike that brought me back to PDP when I was treated unjustly.
“He brought me back to PDP in 2015. You have treated Wike badly. The party and national level should go to him and appeal to him. He came second to Atiku.”
Ortom also disclosed that he is “fasting and praying” for divine guidance before deciding to support the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar.
He said his declaration of support for Atiku would only come if “God directs him.”
Recall that Atiku Abubakar had emerged as the party’s presidential candidate in the May 28/29 PDP presidential primary, while Wike finished in second place.
The presidential candidate had also proceeded to choose Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State as his running mate in the 2023 Elections after wide speculations of a choice in Wike.
However, weeks after his loss in the primaries, Governor Wike has been involved in a series of closed-door meetings with some top politicians including the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, and Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), who visited him at his home in Port Harcourt.
The visits follow speculations of Wike’s alleged plan to dump the PDP.
