The O. B. Lulu-Briggs Foundation says it will organize a five-day Free Medical Mission in Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area in Rivers State as part of activities marking her 20th Anniversary celebration,
The five-day Medical Mission which is scheduled for Jun 27th-July 1st 2022 is the 36th edition of the programme will hold at the Primary Health Care Centre, Opobo Town.
This 5-day programme includes free medical treatment and health awareness educational programmes.
Cases to be handled by the medical team including surgical cases, optometry, physiotherapy, ophthalmology, paediatrics, and in and outpatient medicines, among others.
The Programme Officer Health, O. B. Lulu-Briggs Foundation, Princess Ahana while speaking ahead of the programme said the aim of the foundation is to bring succour to the downtrodden in society.
She said that over one hundred and thirty-five thousand persons have benefitted from the free medical outreach of the foundation in the past 20 years.
In his comment, the Head of Finance, O.B. Lulu Briggs Foundation Tekena Sukubo said the five-day medical outreach is open to the public.
Tekena Sukubo also said that the foundation was founded by Dr Sienye Lulu-Briggs in honour of her husband and philanthropist O.B. Lulu Briggs.
He said the foundation’s cardinal projects include, caring for the elderly, scholarships for students from less privileged families, and free medicals and counselling.
‘The foundation kicked off with a flagship programme area which is christened ‘elder care’ looking at taking care of senior citizens in our society who have been neglected over the years. And this care that the foundation provides for them is holistic. It covers looking at them on a daily feeding programme, giving them monthly food supplies, and giving them regular monthly medical checks to make sure they are fine. Giving them financial support to meet their daily needs and also special care” he said.
