The Federal Government has donated relief materials to victims of the Polo Club stampede in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
Recall that over 31 people had lost their lives and many others were injured during a “Shop for Free” event hosted by the Kings’ Assembly church to help the less privileged get gift items for free.
In a statement, the Federal Government had said it would assist the victims of the stampede after an assessment by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
South-South Zonal Coordinator of the NEMA, Godwin Tepikor in a chat with journalists in Port Harcourt, said the relief items will be distributed according to procedures of the agency.
He said the distribution will be done in collaboration with Kings Assembly and the State Emergency Agency (SEMA) as a list of all those affected by the incident has already been provided.
Some of the items donated include food items among others.
