Ogonis kick as PDP picks riverine candidate for 2023 Rivers guber

Brave Dickson

Ogonis in Rivers State have reacted against the emergence of a riverine candidate as the Peoples Democratic Party flag bearer for the 2023 guber election in the state.

The party had concluded its guber primary which saw the emergence of Governor Nyesom Wike’s former Account-General, Siminalaye Fubara from Opobo-Nkoro LGA as the party’s standard bearer.

Speaking with our correspondent, the Public Relations Officer of MOSOP, Dr Young Nkpa said, “we are not happy with PDP because of its refusal to give an Ogoni person guber ticket.

“PDP should have considered an Ogoni person for governorship ticket as we have been considering other tribes for so long.

“We are not happy with PDP and we are not going to give PDP our vote in 2023 because the party has disappointed us.

“Can PDP say it could not find any qualified person from Ogoni to be its guber flag bearer? The answer is NO! Which means the party intentionally bypassed us to choose other tribe which is unfair.”

Nkpa therefore called on Ogonis to learn from what PDP had done against them and unite strongly with other parties for the number one seat of the state.
