Suspected cultists kill 3 in Akwa Ibom

No less than three persons have lost their lives following an attack by hoodlums suspected to be cultists in Inen Community, Oruk Anam local government area of Akwa Ibom state.

It was learnt that the suspects, who were alleged to be from a neighbouring community, arrived the area in a motorcycle convoy, robbing residents and looting their belongings.

An Eyewitness account said the invaders killed three people, carting away with a brand new motorcycle and a POS machine.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Odiko Mcdon said an investigation has commenced to determine the cause of the incident.

“There is a conflicting report concerning the number of victims involved. But as a command, we have commenced investigation to avert more killings.”

“We are out to establish the cause of the incident. We are determined to ensure that the culprits are brought to book”, he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Oruk Anam local government area, Kingsley Frank has reportedly mobilized a security team to restore peace in the area.
